Sony EMCS (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (SOEM) established in 1997, is one of Sony’s largest facilities with manufacturing and R&D under one roof bringing innovation and high-quality products to customers around the world. Located in Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia, SOEM is 30 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and within an hour from Port Klang and capital city Kuala Lumpur.


The premises comprises two major buildings; the South Plant which houses manufacturing, engineering and EMC functions and the West Wing, dedicated for R&D and other indirect business units.

SOEM features an internationally recognized in-house laboratory providing testing for product safety, EMC compliance, and quality. The site is certified to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.

 

SOEM holds dual license status as a Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) and an International Procurement Center (IPC), providing favorable import duty treatment in Malaysia. The IPC operates within the LMW, enabling duty-free import of parts for both trading and manufacturing activities (0% import duty on parts for trading activities and 0% import duty on parts for manufacturing activities)


SOEM also benefits from Free Trade Agreements (FTA) with various countries across the globe, supported by bilateral and multilateral agreements. These FTAs allow SOEM to export products with 0% export duty making products cheaper for customers.
